SHREVEPORT, Louisiana - The State Fair of Louisiana will open at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 26th, and run through November 12th. This is the 111th edition of the Fair since 1906.
Wednesday afternoon vendors and staff were putting the finishing touches on a planning process that goes on throughout the entire year.
"We're in pretty good shape, the day before the Fair we always have a lot to do, it will be a late night tonight," says State Fair of Louisiana President & GM, Chris Giordano, adding, "it's all worth it so that our guests can have a great experience when they come out tomorrow."
There will be over 60 carnival rides this year as well as food, music, games and exhibits. Many of the events are free. Admission and parking is also free each weekday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., admission is $10 after 3 p.m. and on weekends, and parking is $5.
On Sunday, November 12, at 2 p.m. there will be a Veteran's Parade and Honor Ceremony emceed by NBC 6's Dan and Jacque Jovic.
The Fairgrounds are located north of I-20 between the Jewella and Hearne Avenue exits in Shreveport.
