UPDATE: Crash claims life of Bossier Parish school employee


An employee with Bossier Parish Schools is dead following a rollover crash Monday morning in Bossier Parish.

The accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. on US Hwy 80 just west of Chandler Rd.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Dr. Fred Ogunyemi, 68, of Shreveport, was traveling east on US 80 when the vehicle left exited the road, struck a cross over, and overturned several times.
Dr. Ogunyemi sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to University Health Shreveport where he later died.

Impairment is not suspected in this crash; however toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis.  Louisiana State Police Troop G is investigating the crash.

Ogunyemi had been with Bossier Schools for 20 years and was a Facilitator of Social Services in the Student Services department. He was on school business when the crash occurred. 

Scott Smith, Superintendent of Bossier Schools issued this statement:

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of Dr. Fred Ogunyemi, who was a friend to us all at Bossier Schools. ‘Dr. O,’ as he was affectionately called, had worked in the district for 20 years and will be missed in a tremendous way. He was the consummate professional, his work ethic unparalleled. He had an amazing personality and great attitude to match, going above and beyond what was ever asked of him, with never a complaint. This is a true testament of an outstanding man who will be sorely missed on this earth, but who will forever remain in our hearts.”





Louisiana State Police are working a fatal accident in Bossier Parish.

The one vehicle crash happened Monday morning on Hwy 80 at Chandler Rd.

Authorities say at least one person is dead at the scene. 


The cause of the accident is under investigation.
