Brown faced expulsion hearing on Monday

BATON ROUGE - Louisiana State Senator Troy Brown announced his resignation Thursday. 

For several weeks, Brown has been target of expulsion after being convicted of two domestic violence charge. 

A expulsion hearing was set for Monday by the Louisiana State Senate.

The last time Louisiana's Senate expelled a Senator was in 1981.
