SWEPCO provides recovery assistance in Florida

FLORIDA - SWEPCO will help restore power after Hurricane Irma with 233 employees assisting Duke Energy Florida.

More than nine million people are without electricity in Florida. Just as SWEPCO uses mutual assistance network to call in additional resources for major storms, utilities in Florida have been calling in 30,000 out-of-state workers for their recovery effort.

Crews from all five SWEPCO districts totaling 96 employees to report for work assignments in Florida.

Sixty-seven SWEPCO employees returned home safely September 9 after a two-week deployment helping its sister company, AEP Texas, recover from Hurricane Harvey, which caused 220,000 outages along the Texas Coastal Bend.

SWEPCO crews arrive in Florida and receive work assignments Thursday afternoon.
