New mobile app from TAPD

Texarkana, AR - The Texarkana Arkansas police department has a new mobile app to help them connect with the community.

"It's a positive thing for us to be able to make these contacts with our community whether they want to be anonymous or whether they just want to help out and deter crime from their neighborhood," said Kristi Bennett, Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.

The  mobile app allows you to register a home or business surveillance camera, and access information on; current wanted individuals, local registered sex offenders, incarcerated individuals, department website, and police officer employment.

"They can report anything that they see that's not really 911 worthy, but something that may not be right and they wanted us to be aware of," said Bennett.

If you report any suspicious activity, you can remain anonymous.

The smartphone app is free and you can download it from the Apple store or Google play by searching, Texarkana Police.

Bennett says, "as soon as you download it comes up with a notification,  says do you want to receive notifications a lot of people are being scared off by that, they think that's the PD, us trying to follow you around that's not the truth by any means."

The app has more than 400 users on it since its unveiling, and it's only specific to Texarkana Arkansas.
