Texarkana, TX Council appoints a new member

Texas High teacher fills Ward 4 vacancy

TEXARKANA, Tx - Monday night, Texarkana, Texas officials unanimously voted to appoint a new representative for Ward 4.

Immediately after the results were tallied, Christie Alcorn, a special education teacher at Texas High School, was sworn into office and officially took her seat on the board.

Alcorn said she's elated to be able to contribute to the growth and prosperity of her hometown.

She said, "I wanted to give back to the community and serve the needs of the members that are in Ward 4 as well as others in our community and in our city."

Alcorn fills the unexpired term of Dr. Brian Matthews, who resigned last month because he moved out of the district.  The term expires in November, 2018.
