Southfield School is holding a huge celebration in honor of its 80th anniversary.

There will be a special ceremony as the school celebrates the ribbon cutting of the John Atkins Parking Area. It's the first completed phase of the $6 million capital campaign "Opening New Doors."

Festivities will also include a ground breaking for the new and coming renovation of the Mary Sherman McCord Library, 80 count balloon release, food truck dining, cupcakes, face painting, crafts and the tradition of the beloved Kite Day.

The celebration starts at 10 a.m. Saturday April 26 at the Southfield campus on 1100 Southfield Rd.
