Saint Mary of the Pines Church honors local law enforcement, firefighters and emergency personnel.

The 13th annual Blue Mass takes place all day today at the church in Shreveport.

The church wants to honor, pray for and show thanks to all the men and women in uniform.

It also allows people  to remember those who have fallen in the line of duty.

The first Blue Mass within the Diocese of Shreveport was celebrated in 2002 and remains an important annual event.
