Locals gear up for the 4th

Activities at Shreveport's Independence Day Festival will be held in Riverview Park on Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport. A special Farmers Market will be held from 6 a.m. to noon; a cook off will be held at 11 a.m.; kiddie area, 2 p.m.; live entertainment, 4 pm; and fireworks display at 9 p.m.

Today NBC 6 News Reporter Joel Rodgers spoke with many locals who love fireworks, but they prefer to pop their own.

"My favorite firework is the sparkler, love how it sparkles" says Olivia Meier.

"I like the small bombs and the Saturn Missles. I like to pop my own fireworks." says Raymond Berry

"It's one of my favorite holidays, I love it." Keiser Reese says.

So if you're looking to get out and see a show, or have one of your own. People love fireworks.
