Drivers in North Shreveport are dealing with white smoke filling the air near I-220.
A fire started burning at the Harrelson Materials Management Landfill off of Russell Road last Wednesday.
The landfill's owner, Michael Harrelson, says the flare up is from a fire started by a busted water main in 2010. For the past four years, minor flare ups have plagued the landfill. Harrelson has been working with Shreveport Fire Department to put out the fire.
Fred Sanders with the Shreveport Fire Department says the landfill keeps adding materials to it, making it hard for the fire to be put out.
No word on when the flames will be completely out.
