Did you know that in Louisiana women are paid 67-cents for every dollar a man makes?
That's according to the American Association of University Women.
They met today in Shreveport with state Senator Karen Carter-Peterson, to push for equal pay.
They are asking Governor Bobby Jindal to veto senate bill 359, which they say makes it more difficult for women to challenge pay discrimination.
"At a minimum we should get paid uh just as much as a man for doing the same job. When that doesn't happen it impacts families," Says Senator Peterson.
She also called on women to pay attention to their elected officials because women make up more than half of registered voters in Louisiana.
