NFL Star quarterback Michael Vick will visit local youth football players in Independence Stadium on Friday, July 11th at 5pm. The New York Jets quarterback will interact with the players while local high school coaches conduct a football clinic..

"I am delighted that Michael Vick has reached out to engage the youth of our area,” said Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover. “I truly believe that he has a compelling and empowering story to share.  For those on the straight and narrow path, his is a cautionary tale that should encourage them to continue to stay focused and not stray. For those who have fallen short, Vick can give voice to the reality that redemption, reversal and recovery are indeed possible."

Vick served a federal prison sentence for his role in a dog fighting operation. He’ll be in town to host the "Michael Vick Comedy Explosion" at the Strand Theatre July 12th www.vickcomedy.com .

“I look forward to coming to Shreveport,” said Michael Vick. “Every child that steps on a football field has a dream. At any skill level, we need to invest time, talent and energy in our youth. Great things will come as a result.”

200 kids are expected to attend the football clinic.

REGISTRATION: Registration forms will be available at SPAR’s Athletic Office located at 7401 Jewella Ave. or on-site at Independence Stadium on day of clinic from 4:30pm– 5:00pm. For additional clinic information, call 318-673-7748.
