Overnight shooting claims one life in Shreveport

Update at 8:45am:

The Shreveport Police Department is looking for answers surrounding the death of a man found slain outside an apartment complex in east Shreveport.

Just before 11:00pm, on June 23rd, police officers were called to the Oak Meadows Apartments (1900 block of Centenary Boulevard), relative to reports that a man was found lying on the ground.

They heard he was suffering from what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the head.

When officers arrived, they learned the man, whose identity hasn't been released, had died.

Shreveport Police Crime Scene investigators, along with Violent Crimes detectives were notified and responded to the scene.

Investigators immediately began a probe of the circumstances surrounding the death and are working tirelessly to gather more information leading to the identity and apprehension of the person or persons responsible.

In speaking with nearby residents, it was reported a single gunshot was heard, but no further details were provided.

A man is gunned down inside an apartment on Centenary Boulevard.

It happened in a unit at the Oak Meadow apartment complex. Shreveport Police say they received a call of a man shot around 11:45 last night.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult man dead.

His identity has not been released, and police are investigating the crime as a homicide.
