A group of parents and teachers are taking Governor Bobby Jindal to court over Common Core. The lawsuit was filed in the 19th Judicial District court in East Baton Rouge Parish.

The lawsuit was filed by the parents of children attending public schools in Orleans Parish, Jefferson Parish & East Baton Rouge Parish.

Teachers in Ascension Parish, Orleans Parish are also listed as plaintiffs along with Choice Foundation a charter management organization that manages three charter schools in Orleans Parish.

According to the suit the defendants violated the Louisiana Constitution and have sown chaos in the education system of this State. The Governor suspended BESE’s contract with the vendor that designs, develops, distributes, and scores the assessments at issue. Those actions have confused and alarmed students, parents, teachers and school administrators.

The suit went on to say those actions jeopardized preparations for the 2014-2015 school year.
