Caddo Parish Sheriff deputies are warning residents about a recent phone scam.

Sheriff Steve Prator says citizens should aware of a man who represents himself as a deputy in a phone scam targeting local residents.

One woman said she was contacted by the man who represented himself as Lt. Chris Jackson with the Caddo Sheriff's Office.

The man gave a badge number and said he was with the Warrants Division.

He also says he had a warrant for the woman's arrest but would recall the warrant if she would send him $400 on a green dot card.

He then gave her a call-back phone number, which has a similar voice recorded message.

Prator said the woman was wise to notify law enforcement and not send the money to the caller.

"Never take the call on faith," Prator said. "Hang up and call the Sheriff's Office phone number listed in the phone book to check it out. Never give personal information or money over the phone."
