Dr. Theodis Goree, superintendent of Caddo Parish Schools, Friday unveiled his plan to help failing Caddo Parish Schools.

In that plan, Mooretown, Caddo Heights and Sunset Acres will become Pre K-3 schools; Midway, Atkins and Werner Park will be come 4-6 schools; and Westwood, Pinegrove, Northside and Cherokee Park will be Pre K-6 schools.

The elementary school schedules will be modified for large blocks of uninterrupted blocks of literacy and numeracy instruction.  Consistent reading and math intervention models/programs will be implemented across elementary focus schools.

Daily intervention blocks will be imbedded in each school’s schedule. Assignment of school leadership will be based upon area expertise and past performance.

A 5th through 8th grade academic magnet component will be added to Oak Park Elementary/Middle School.

The school board will vote on the plan January 28th. If the plan is approved all changes will start this fall.
