Police investigate cyclist hit by car

The Texarkana, Texas Police Department is investigating an incident where a man was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle.

It happened Friday night around 7:30pm.

According to a preliminary investigation, Michael Brimer (55), of Texarkana, Texas was riding his bicycle southbound on South Lake Drive on the shoulder of the roadway.

Traffic Sergeant, Mike Harris, said that as Brimer approached the intersection with Leopard Drive, he made an abrupt left turn to cross South Lake Drive and into the path of a 2005 Honda Accord, driven by April Higgs (35), of Texarkana, Texas.

Brimer was taken to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital with serious injuries.

He suffered from head trauma, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Neither Higgs, nor her passenger were injured.

No citations have been issued.
