Police officers in shooting incident identified

The Shreveport Police Department has released the names of two officers involved in a shooting incident last weekend in downtown Shreveport.

On June 14th, 2014, Officer Michael Flentge and Corporal Jeremy Edwards were placed on paid administrative leave by Chief of Police Willie Shaw pending an investigation into a shooting incident which occurred at approximately 3:50am.

During the incident, both officers fired their service weapons at an armed suspect, who was later arrested after he reportedly fired multiple rounds from a handgun into the direction of persons gathered near the 600 block of Commerce St.

Neither officer was injured during the ordeal which remains under investigation.
