Some road work may cause a delay in your drive.

Improvements to Highway 549 will require closing southbound lanes in a portion of Miller County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be repairing Highway 549 southbound, near the Sulphur River, south of Fouke.

The work will require closing the southbound lanes on Highway 549.

Drivers will be detoured onto U.S. Highway 71 at the Exit 16 Interchange south of Fouke.

The southbound lane closures will begin Monday, August 25th.

The closure is expected to continue 24 hours a day, for 3 weeks or less, weather permitting.

Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning/detour signs.

Motorists should use caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
