School raises money for children in Peru

A group of Barksdale airmen tested their basketball skills on local students.

Tuesday, Cope Middle School's boys basketball teams played a benefit game against Barksdale airmen.

The fundraiser is part of Cope's "Helping Hearts" community initiative.

The school will purchase wheelchairs for special needs children at an orphanage in Peru.

On a recent trip a Cope special education teacher visited the orphanage, prompting the fundraiser.

All gate and concessions sales benefit "Helping Hearts."
