Dogs took center stage Saturday afternoon at the Bossier Civic Center. They were competing for “Best-in-Show.” It was hosted by the Shreveport Kennel Club. More than a thousand show dogs competed, representing more than 100 different breeds. The dogs are judged on how close they compare to breed standards. The purpose of the show is to promote pure-bred dogs.
"It's just a fun sport for a family to do,” said Patti Hunsicker, President of the Shreveport Kennel Club. “Some people do it for as a hobby, some people do it for a living.”
There were also several vendors on hand, selling dog collectibles.
The show continues Sunday and Monday.
