Shreveport domestic violence safe house under new management

Louisiana leads the nation in domestic violence and locally cases in Caddo Parish are at an all time At a time when there's a critical need for services Shreveport's only shelter is now under new management.

Starting Tuesday the Providence House no longer operates the domestic violence safe house. It's now being headed by “Project Celebration." Both groups say there won't be an interruption in services

The executive director of "Project Celebration" says they were able to keep the majority of staff members from the Providence House. They also have space available for domestic violence victims.

The executive director of the Providence House says it was a smooth transition.

Simone Hennessee says,” We had made a commitment months ago when we started this process that we would literally provide everything a new organization needed to stand up and stand up immediately.”

The domestic violence hotline number will remain the same. Anyone needing help can still call 318-226-5015.
