This Saturday, June 28th, local food trucks, regional stand-up comedians, and the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks will be at SummerFest in the district.
It's a mini family-friendly festival in the Red River Entertainment District (RRED) from noon until 3pm.
Jester Castering, Lilah's Bakery, Missing Link, and Grill of the Dead will be on hand to offer attendees a taste of the unique fare available only from the region's mobile eatery industry.
"The community has been asking us to come together for an event at the Red River District for a while now," said Tina Palmisano, owner of Jester Catering and coordinator of S'port Street Eats. "We are excited to work with the city and be on-hand to give our customers what they want: several of our trucks in one location."
With something for everyone, SummerFest will present entertainment from local comedians Dother Sykes IV, Glenn Stuart and Tremaile Prelow.
"These guys are a good example of the talented comics located right here in the Shreveport-Bossier area. We are excited for the opportunity to share this brand of family-friendly humor with the folks attending the fesetival," says Willie Rushing, promoter and local entertainer.
Entertainment for the kids will round out Saturday's SummerFest with inflatable attractions, street performers, face painting, and a shoot-out with team members of the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks.
Marissa Carbine, event coordinator for the Red River Entertainment District says," We are thrilled to offer the first of many exciting events scheduled for the district. Organizers have been working to showcase the district as a dynamic place to work, eat and play. We are looking forward to SummerFest as a great way to reintroduce the community all the Red River Entertainment District has to offer."
