GRAMBLING - Dr. Cynthia Warwick was officially introduced as Grambling State University’s Interim President, earlier this month.

After a year of ups and downs, she's hoping her administration can turn things around.

"We can do the work that needs to be done here," said Warrick.

In June the University Of Louisiana Board Of Supervisors unanimously confirmed Dr. Cynthia Warrick to be Grambling’s Interim President after Dr. Frank Pogue stepped down.

She say's the reception has been warm.

“I met with faculty, I've met with administrators and students, and I'm just happy to know that there are folks here who are willing to go over and beyond what's necessary to move Grambling to the next level," adds Warrick.

Change has been swift since taking over on July 1st.

Warrick brought a team of administrators to GSU to see her vision through.

"I recognized that I needed a team who can start the job when they get here and that work well with me."

She says if Grambling is to return to historic greatness, the student population must increase.

"Our primary goal is to increase enrollment and everyone on this campus, including our students are going to be involved with that,” said Warrick.

Finally the topic switched to athletics.

In one of her first moves, Warrick dismissed both the athletic director and head basketball coach.

And rumors of a Bayou Classic without GSU also didn't sit well with the new president.

"There is no bayou classic without GSU!"
