Bringing global ideas to our local community... That's the goal of the Aspen Ideas Mini-Fest.

The Community Foundation hosts the first session tonight at the Robinson Film Center, to discuss Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream Speech" and its impact.

One speaker says doctor king's speech still resonates today and shreveport should continue working for progress.

"Bottom line is we're all gonna be better if we can work together so to the extent that we can have black and white community come together for a better Shreveport for all of us," says Clay Walker.

Each summer international leaders meet in Aspen Colorado to discuss key global issues.

The local mini-fest brings the discussion home.

Other sessions take place February 13th and 20th and tackle higher education and healthcare.
