Severe thunderstorms in the ArkLaTex leave thousands without power.

According to the SWEPCO website, more than 17,000 people in Caddo Parish will wake up in the dark Thursday morning.

Almost 6,000 people in Bossier Parish are also without power.

Wednesday night, severe thunderstorms swept across the area with strong winds.

Seven major transmission lines were affected.

SWEPCO crews have been working around the clock to back them up first because they supply power to large numbers of people.

However it could take crews quite some time to get power back up and running.

If you have downed lines or trees, they say you need to call SWEPCO and let them know at 1-888-218-3919.
