A Texarkana, Texas, elementary school principal has resigned after being arrested for DWI earlier this month in Texarkana, Arkansas.

Gary Wayne Davault, former principal of C.K. Bender Elementary School, was arrested by Texarkana Arkansas Police in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 15, in the 700 block of Realtor Avenue.  The following Monday, Davault was placed on administrative leave from the school.

Liberty-Eylau Independent School District spokesman Matt Fry said Davault resigned from his position Monday, and Bender assistant principal Amy Roberts has been named interim principal until the school district can conduct a search for the permanent position.

Davault  is on today’s docket in Texarkana, Arkansas for a hearing on DWI first offense and implied consent charges.
