Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that left a man dead and a woman seriously injured earlier this week.

Chevis Carter, 33, was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after he was spotted by authorities near the intersection of Olive St. at Centenary Blvd.

Carter is accused of fatally shooting a man Tuesday at the home of his ex-girlfriend Dwan Gales.

Carter allegedly kicked in the door of Gales' home and fired shots at her and her male acquaintance.

Gales is still recovering in the hospital from a gunshot wound to the face.

Carter was booked into the Shreveport City Jail and charged with one count each of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Second Degree Murder.
