Bossier Sheriff's Deputies are making sure students are safe in school zones.

Thursday morning Dep. Robert Teague was keeping a watchful eye out for speeders on Hwy 3 in front of Benton High School.

School has been in session for a week now in Bossier Parish, while today was the first day for kindergartners.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington encourages you to:

  • Give yourself a little more driving time when traversing school zones.
  • Avoid any distractions while behind the wheel.
  • Be sure and put your cell phone away or use hands-free following the passage of a new law in Louisiana which prohibits the use of a hand-held wireless device while in a school zone during posted hours.
