The owner of a Webster Parish Exterminating Company is behind bars today, after customers complained to the sheriff that their prescription narcotics were missing after he visited.
Ronald Veitch, owner of Anti Pest and Veitch in Minden, allegedly would contact customers and inform them he had a new way of doing termite inspections and their residence needed to be inspected.
He then would arrive at the residence and show an aerosol can to customers and tell them needed to leave for 10 to 15 minutes, as they shouldn’t breathe the fumes.
With the customers out of the house, Veitch would find where prescription narcotics were stored and remove them from their containers. He would replace them with over-the-counter medications or if liquid, over-the-counter cough syrups.
Detectives contacted a number of pest control companies in the Shreveport/Bossier area, as well as the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and were able to confirm the way Veitch was doing inspections did not meet the standard as set by the state.
At the time of Veitch’s arrest, a large amount of Morphine pills in an over-the-counter aspirin bottle were found in his pocket. From Veitch’s office building, detectives uncovered a large amount of Tramadol and also a hydrocodone pill.
When Veitch was taken to be booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center, authorities found a “shank” hidden on his person; he had fashioned it from a broken piece of wood from a chair in the CID office where he was interviewed.
Veitch currently a guest of the Webster Parish taxpayers at BYCC, where he is being held on the following charges:
