Each year Caddo Parish art teachers create paintings for the Excellence in Art Exhibit.

Henry Price, Caddo Parish Schools Supervisor or Art, said, "I think it's important that students have an opportunity to see the art teachers practice their craft and it's a way to inspire young people so that they realize there are any number of things that they can do."

Shirlene Alexander, Art Teacher at Caddo Magnet High School, created a lifelike painting of baby birds and said, "My challenge in painting like this is to achieve realism and i encourage my students to learn the skills that are required to paint or to draw realistically."

Price is also showing his work saying, "I always say I don't ask art teachers to do anything that I'm not willing to do myself so if I'm asking them to produce work then i need to produce work. So i have 3 pieces on exhibition."

Alexander was excited to show off her work and said, "It's just a great opportunity for the Caddo art educators to show the community that we practice what we preach."
