Executive Director of the DDA/DSDC Liz Swaine said, "We learned a lot in our first Pop UP in the Red River District. Food encourages excitement. If you have great food offerings, all the other retailers benefit and we've definitely got some great options for the upcoming Pop UP!"

Participating in a Pop UP is a great first step for them. It will let them share their products and business plans with a wider audience to learn what works and what needs work. Those who will participate in the Central Business District Pop UP include:
- Baked- the food from Northern Italy. Owner Christa Free, who was born and lived in Italy, makes mouth-watering Paninis, Lasagna, fresh-baked breads, Cinnamon-Maple rolls, Profiteroles filled with chocolate and vanilla and more. Her menu will change daily but will always include frozen products to buy and take, pastries and fresh fruit drinks.
- TWINE- TWINE is a local brick and mortar restaurant long interested in downtown opportunities. Owner Rick Rose has built a business based on fresh; fresh bread, sandwiches and salads with fresh made daily desserts. Some of TWINE's specialties include Blueberry Texas Toast, Salmon Salad with Capers and salads topped with Homemade Ranch Dressing.
- Fleur De Crème- owner Summer Black has found a way to satisfy every sweet tooth with homemade ice cream made from regionally-sourced cream and fruit. Her creative flavors that range from Roasted Strawberries & Crème to Port City Peach (flambéed with Southern Comfort Bourbon) to Creole Cheesecake with Graham Cracker Crust, will be available by scoop, cone, half- or full pint. Our suggestion is to eat a cone, carry out a pint!
- Le Affine' Boutique- Owner LaToya Amos chose the name which means 'To Be Refined' for a reason. The clothing, purses and accessories Amos sells look high end but are affordable for almost every woman. Amos has been in the fashion business for 15 years and hopes the experience and contacts she gets during Pop UP will allow her to one day open her own brick and mortar location.
- Red I- Whether hats are in or out (hint: they're in), owner India Mona can make you fall in love with the Fedora. Mona custom designs a wide range of unique and stylish Fedoras for women, men and children. She also carries specialty extended tee shirts.
- Megan Davis Taylor Fine Art- Megan has never met a family pet she couldn't paint into a portrait. She specializes in furry family members that can be painted from your photo or hers. No pet? No worries. Megan also has a line of paintings of wild and domestic animals from which you can choose.
- Global Images, LLC- Shelley Hoppaugh is just about to be the next 'big thing.' She has a patent pending on a new and innovative frame that incorporated LED lighting in a way you have not seen before. Her frames, which will initially be offered in 11x14, also differ in that the photograph or painting does not need to be professionally mounted and can be changed as often as the owner would like. Global Images is one of the contestants in the Louisiana Start-Up Prize.
616 Texas, known historically as the Zodiag Building (after its original owner, Austrian immigrant Herman Zodiag), is the smallest of von Kurnatowski's three buildings and the one closest to completion. It is also the oldest of the three, constructed around the turn of the last century. The building originally served as a dry goods store and later as a premier women's dress shop, so Pop UP will be a return to its historic roots!
Signage for the Pop UP has begun going up on the building, and during the Sept. 22- October 3 event, the block will take on a festive air with windsocks, banners, bistro seating, and specials at all the surrounding businesses including Robinson Film Center, 4 J's Java and More, Martha's Hallmark, On Time Fashion, and the café at Artspace.
