More than 16,000 Elio vehicles sit on the waiting list.

"That represents $120 in sales and production. If we have 10 to 12 businesses that gets the plant full it'll be better. It's not subject to market fluctuation," Caddo Commissioner John Escude said.

Elio would only take up a portion of the 4 million sq. ft. GM plant, specifically 1.3 million.

From the ground up it doesn't look like much is going on at the plant inside or outside, yet Elio continues with an aggressive national media tour saying the vehicle will be made in Shreveport.

Maybe that is where the confusion started. Elio has not been able to get to work inside. For months the parish has been in talks with a major company looking to move their headquarters, thousands of jobs, and high paying salaries in the plant. The plan would be to use the entire space.
That company, name unknown, decided it would cause too much business interference.
Wednesday April 30th, the deal was off the table.

"It was not automotive at all. The Toyota and Nissan are not true at all. The company's deadline expired yesterday and they aren't coming. So from here IRG and Elio and any other companies they've started business with can get to work in the plant," Escude said.
