Just before 2 a.m. today (June 22, 2014), Shreveport police patrol officers arrived in the 3700 block of Hearne Avenue in regard to a traffic stop being conducted on a 1998, Honda Accord sedan. Reportedly, the driver disregarded a traffic signal a few blocks south of that location.

The vehicle's occupants told officers male passenger inside the vehicle had just been shot and they were attempting to get him medical attention.

The victim was identified as Damariay Pinesett of Shreveport, who was suffering a single gunshot wound to his upper left shoulder.

Conscious and alert throughout the ordeal; Pinesett was transported from the scene by the Shreveport Fire Department, to University Hospital where he was treated for his injury which was non-life threatening.

The four additional occupants inside the vehicle told police prior to the shooting, they and the victim were outside in front of a home located in the 3000 block of Morningside Drive when a red vehicle of unknown make and model drove toward them.

During that time, the four reported someone inside the red vehicle fired shots, one of which struck Pinest.

The Honda occupants were unable to provide additional information on the red vehicle or its driver, nor were they able to provide a theory as to why they may have been fired at.
