Euthanasia rates at the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter are reaching their lowest point in nearly three years. Members of the newly formed Animal Welfare Committee say adoptions at the shelter are going up while intake is going down. This past February's euthanasia rate sits at roughly 59% while last year's were in the 80's.
"When you see the numbers go down you know you're doing something right and it's great to see hard work pay off," Shreveport-Bossier Animal Rescue's Reed Ebarb said.
