Shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday Jim Taliaferro qualified as a candidate for the office of Shreveport City Marshal.

Taliaferro is a former SPD Sergeant and past coordinator of the award-winning Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers program, recently retiring from the local force to pursue this office.

Taliaferro said, "I pride myself on having a servant heart, possessing the ethics, integrity and ability to build relationships to get things done.  I have served my country both locally and nationally; with my 34 years in law enforcement and 33 years of military experience, I am uniquely qualified to be the next Shreveport City Marshal."

Born in Shreveport, the product of a military family, Taliaferro spent many years away from his native home and returned to Shreveport in 1988, currently residing in the Broadmoor area where he grew up.  Very active in the community, he belongs to many civic organizations and attends St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Taliaferro said, "I pledge professionalism and respect during this campaign, exhibiting those characteristics which our citizens will expect from a City Marshal's Office under my watch."
