Changes to how airline rewards programs work might mean losing some of your favorite perks.  Chris Clackum reports.

United Airlines is the latest airline to change the way travelers earn frequent flyer miles.

United joins Delta, JetBlue and Southwest in basing points earned on money spent and not miles flown.

Because of their merger, it may be a year or longer before American and U.S. Airways join the club.

Travel experts say that maybe it's time for consumers to take a good look at their loyalty program and consider relying on credit cards instead.

They say that credit cards are the easiest way to rack up miles these days, provided you pay them off in full monthly.
