A Bowie County jury today convicted a Wake Village Texas man of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Kevin Fahrni, 44, was accused of sexually assaulting his former girlfriend’s 11-year-old daughter 2008

Following jury selection, but before it was seated, a hearing was held regarding whether to allow testimony concerning allegations of the defendant’s sexual misconduct with the then 6-year-old daughter of another former girlfriend in Texarkana, Ark.

District Judge Ralph Burgess ruled the testimony could be admitted during the guilt-or-innocence part of the trial, as the alleged victim’s mother had gone to the Texarkana, Ark. Police at the time and interviews were conducted.

Witnesses testifying during the two-day trial included the victim, now 17, her  mother and grandmother, Chuck Green, the then Wake Village police investigator who made the October 2008 report, the then forensic interviewer, a sexual assault nurse who examined the victim, and the now-20-year-old who made allegations Fahrni sexually assaulted her when she was 6-years-old.

It took the jury of seven men and five women less than an hour to reach the guilty verdict.

The jury will be back in District Court Friday morning to decide on Fahrni’s sentence. He could get from five to 99 years in prison.
