LifeCare Hospitals of Shreveport to close its main facility

SHREVEPORT, La. - LifeCare Hospitals of Shreveport announced Wednesday that it is closing its main campus in south Shreveport.

LifeCare will close the Linwood Ave. location in March.

Employees are being encouraged to apply for open positions at other hospitals.

There is no accurate number of employees affected at this time.

Below is a statement that was issued on behalf of the hospital:

LifeCare Hospitals of Shreveport began notifying employees, patients and physicians last week that we have made the difficult decision to close our Main Campus facility located at 9320 Linwood Avenue.

We anticipate most of our current patients will be able to complete their recovery with us. We will
immediately begin to limit admissions to our Main Campus facility and will work closely with our physicians and care teams to ensure a smooth transition for any patient who requires ongoing care at another facility.

We anticipate discontinuing patient care services at the Main Campus location on or before March 31, 2018.

Area residents will continue to have access to expert inpatient and specialized post-acute care at the North Campus and Pierremont Campus locations of LifeCare Hospitals of Shreveport.

The healthcare industry is constantly evolving and a number of factors influenced our decision to make this change, including, but not limited to, Shreveport’s medical environment, regulatory changes, referral patterns and other market dynamics. These decisions are never made easily or without intense consideration of the overall impact of all parties involved.

We appreciate the dedication of our Main Campus employees and regret this decision will affect them in a deeply personal way. We are encouraging them to apply for open positions in our other hospitals.
