Man found guilty in Peach St. murder

A man has been convicted of Second Degree Murder in a deadly shooting at an apartment complex in the MLK area.

On Thursday Andrew Smith, 19, was found guilty of murdering Prentiss Britton, 21, back in 2013.

The shooting happened at the Cooper Road Plaza Apartments in the 2900 block of Peach St. 

Police say Smith fired at least 12 shots at Brittion striking him in the upper and lower body.  Britton was later pronounced dead at University Health.

Smith will get life in prison without the possibility of parole, probation or suspension.
