UPDATE: Man gunned down in Shreveport neighborhood identified

SHREVEPORT - UPDATE:

The man who was found with multiple gunshot wounds outside of a Shreveport home Monday night has been identified.

The Caddo Parish Coroner's office identifies the victim as 34-year-old Samuel James Johns.

Johns' body was discovered around 6 p.m. on Talbot St. in the Allendale neighborhood.

An autopsy for Johns has been ordered at University Health.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A man was shot and killed Monday evening in Shreveport.

Police say it happened in the 2100 block of Talbot Street.

Police say the victim was found lying on the front lawn of a residence, suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

The man, whose name has not been released, was declared deceased on scene.
 
Police say they've detained an adult male, who detectives have reason to believe may be directly involved in the shooting.  

Charges against that man are pending.

Police say it's unclear if the man detained and the victim knew each other.
