AAA projects 36.1 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles for some "R & R" this weekend. Shreveport Regional airport sees one of it's highest spike in travelers during this weekend.
Meanwhile, airfares are 6% higher, mid-range hotels up 2%, and car rentals up 1%.
"We just flew in from California to visit and get some mudbugs. The prices weren't bad but we bought them six months ago," said James and Sandra Powell.
But what's even more surprising than not minding your airfare, is the low gas prices. Due to rising supplies the cost is down from last year, sitting roughly at $3.36 a gallon.
