Just after 3:00 a.m. on May 10, 2014, Shreveport Police patrol officers working near the 600 block of Commerce Street heard gunshots being fired in the area. As they responded to investigate, one of the patrolmen observed a male suspect holding a firearm. The officer confronted the man who subsequently fled on foot in an apparent attempt to evade capture.
Following a brief pursuit, the suspect, identified as 20 year old Dekendrey Reddix was taken into custody without incident. Officers seized the weapon they believe he was armed with at the time of this crime.
Upon further investigation, detectives determined Reddix and several other men were involved in some sort of dispute that ultimately led to gunfire. Based on information and evidence gathered at the scene of the crime, police identified and apprehended two other suspects, identified as 27 year old Calvin Jackson and 24 year old Malcolm Perry.
Jackson, of the 700 block of East 10th in Panama City, Florida, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of illegal use of a weapon and one count of possession, manufacture and distribution a Schedule IV narcotic.
Perry, of the 1200 block of Estelle Drive in Bossier City, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of principal to illegal use of a weapon.
Reddix, of the 4300 block of Illinois Avenue, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of illegal use of a weapon and one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Reddix was also charged with one count of simple burglary and one count of possession of burglary tools after police linked him to an unrelated earlier vehicle burglary.
