Natchitoches teen charged in murder to be tried as

A teenager who fatally punched a student at a Natchitoches high school will be tried as an adult.

The Natchitoches Parish District Attorney’s Office filed the proper paperwork Wednesday afternoon through the 10th Judicial Court.

Timmy Robinson, 16, has been arrested on one count of Manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old JohnQuaries Smith.

Robinson is accused of punching Smith during a fight Monday at Central High School.  Smith died from his injuries Tuesday afternoon at University Health Medical Center.

Robinson has been transferred from the Ware Juvenile Detention Center in Coushatta to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center in Natchitoches. He currently is awaiting a bond hearing at a future date.
