Tuesday night a local couple is homeless after a tree crashes into their apartment. It happened as storms ripped through parts of the ArkLaTex.

Monday afternoon winds ripped a tree from the ground and into an Atlanta, Texas apartment complex.

David Grant says, “I heard something cracking and I hit the corner the whole tree hit the house."

Grant was outside when the winds started to howl.

"I can't even describe it. It was a sound I never heard. I never had seen a tree fall like that."

Brad Drury lived in the damaged unit. He was at the grocery store when the unexpected happened.

Drury says, “What are we going to do now. We don't have any renter's insurance.”

While crews clean up the damage Brad can only sit back and count his blessings.

"Main thing that went in my mind is that no one got killed, because that was a big tree."

His girlfriend was on the bed when the tree crashed into their bedroom. She was able to get out and was rushed to the hospital with a concussion.

"Everything is going to work out."

Tuesday night the couple will lean on their neighbors for support. The couple will stay with neighbors until the landlord places them in a new apartment.
