The Marshall Police Department issues a warning about a phone scam targeting the elderly.

Detectives have received complaints about a scammer calling people wanting them to send money on a type of prepaid debit card.

The caller identifies himself as a Lieutenant with the Clark Co. Detention Unit in Las Vegas, Nevada, claiming to have your grandchild and that they are facing charges.

The scammer then instructs the person to go to the nearest Home Depot and purchase Reload It cards and load them with $500.00 each and once loaded give them a call back at a certain number.

Below is a link to the Clark Co. Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada in which an individual can search their inmate database to determine if someone they know is being detained there.
