Shreveport Police are looking for answers in a deadly shooting that left one man dead and sent another to the hospital.

The shooting happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Merwin St. and Hassett Ave.

Demonta Wills, 19, of Bossier City, was discovered inside a white Dodge Charger with a single gunshot wound to the upper body.  Wills died at the scene.

Investigators say Wills and three other occupants of the car were involved in an exchange of gunfire with another group of individuals from a separate vehicle that fled the scene.

The two passengers from the Dodge Charger were transported to Shreveport Police Headquarters for questioning.

After further investigation,  officers tracked down Edward Bessard, 23, to a home in the 2300 block of Audrey Lane after receiving reports of a shooting there.

Bessard was transported to University Health with a gunshot wound to the mid-section.

Detectives believe Bessard may have been injured during his alleged involvement in the earlier shooting.

Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to contact Caddo-Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
