Operation Red Wings: The other side of the story

A combat search and rescue pilot for the Lone Survivor set to speak at 2014 Patriot Awards.

Lt Col Brett Waring, who will be the Patriot Awards keynote speaker, served as commander in Operation Red Wings, the search and rescue operation for Marcus Luttrell. 

Waring's efforts spun a major Hollywood motion picture titled, Lone Survivor.  Waring will share his side of the story and involvement during the rescue mission. 

Waring, the Commander, 548th CTS/Det 1 at Barksdale Air Force Base, is a fully qualified A-10C Instructor Pilot and has recently returned from a third tour in Afghanistan flying over 70 combat missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 

The Bossier Chamber of Commerce will hold the Patriots Awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at the Bossier Civic Center. 
The event will honor City and Parish policemen and firemen, all branches of the military and 911 communications.
