UPDATE: Pedestrian hit and killed by local deputy identified


A man struck and killed by a Caddo Sheriff's deputy patrol car late Tuesday night has been identified.

The Caddo Parish Coroner's office identified the man as 23-year-old Christopher Dyrell Morris, of

Morris, who had been reported missing earlier that evening, was hit around 9:30 in the 7400 block of West 70th St.

Morris was identified through physical attributes and correlation of autopsy results with previous medical records.



Caddo Sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian who was struck by a Sheriff's Office vehicle, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Around 9:45 this evening, Sgt. Pat Brooks was eastbound on West 70th  Street near Westport Avenue when he made impact with a black male wearing a black shirt and black pants.

Investigators said there were no street lights in the area and other lighting was minimal where the accident occurred. Brooks was driving a marked vehicle and had just left an off-duty job. Deputies with the Caddo Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit and Patrol Division are investigating the accident.

The pedestrian was taken to University Health where he was later pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.
