You should have an easier time getting around if you plan to attend the Defenders of Liberty Air Show this weekend.

The Bossier City Police Department has devised a plan to minimize traffic congestion around Barksdale Air Force Base.

When the gates to Barksdale open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, traffic entering the base from the West Gate on Barksdale Boulevard will run in its normal configuration.

Once the air show ends on both days all lanes of traffic at the West Gate will be designated for outbound traffic only.

This route will go into effect as early as 3 p.m. on both days and last until most of the traffic has exited the base.  The traffic flow for vehicles entering and exiting Barksdale from other access points will remain unchanged.

If you have no plans to attend the air show police suggest that you use the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway during this time as an alternative route.
